Dear Reader,
I hope you’re having a good day and sipping on some water.
I was thinking about that fun internet movement, “We do not care.” It was funny watching everyone embrace midlife in such an honest way. But over here, we talk about building our next chapter, one that’s on our own terms. And personally, while I can be very black-or-white, either I’m all in, or I’m not, I still love putting on makeup, wearing lingerie, and you know…
But when this peri girl showed up, things started changing. And you know I like to keep it honest. I don’t like it.
I needed an antidote, so I started exploring my options. Because a girl likes her sleep and wants to feel vibrant… everywhere. I don’t know who signed me up for this chapter, but I am ready to send this book back.
For a while, I really thought it was just me, until I started talking to my girlfriends and realized we’re all having some version of the same experience.
Now, you know I’ve spent thirty-five years in cosmetology, but what a lot of people don’t realize is that I was raised by a pharmacist. My dad was one of the first Black men to graduate from the St. Louis College of Pharmacy, and he had his own pharmacy. I was working with him by the time I was seven. He wanted me to become a doctor. I chose something else, but I never really left what he taught me.
I used to sit beside him while he filled prescriptions, and he would explain the chemistry behind everything. He even spoke Latin, the language of medicine. So I grew up looking at the body differently, and that followed me into my work. I’ve always believed your hair tells the truth about what’s going on inside. You can see stress. You can see when something is off, even when a person doesn’t say a word.
So when my body started shifting, I approached it the same way. I got curious.
I’ve never been someone who immediately reaches for medication. That’s just a personal choice. Even with my clients, I always talked about what’s happening internally first, because healthy hair, real growth, all of that starts from within. That’s the part most people skip.
So I started paying attention, doing my own research, trying to understand what was actually happening in my body. About a year ago, I came across Womaness and decided to try a couple of their products. But what kept me there wasn’t just the products; it was the information. They actually explain what’s happening in a way that makes sense, and they’re speaking directly to women in this stage of life.
Because let’s be real, it’s one thing to deal with your sleep being off, but when it starts affecting how you feel in your body, how you show up, how you connect… that’s not something I’m willing to ignore. I still want to feel like myself. I still want to care. I still want to feel good and, yes, a little girly.
And that’s really why I’m sharing this with you. Not because this is some big campaign or partnership. It’s not. I reached out to them because I had questions, and I wanted answers that actually made sense. Their website is filled with articles from experts, real-life testimonials, and a community of women sharing their experiences. The company was founded by two women with a twenty-year friendship, and what I love most is that the products are made for grown women. Grown.
Because of my platform, I’ve had several companies reach out to partner, and I’ve said no more times than I can count. I have to not only like the products, but I also have to believe in the company. After doing my research, I reached out to work with them. While this is not a paid partnership, I am able to offer you 10% off your purchase when you use the link below. And yes, they’ll give me a small commission.
But more importantly, I want your next chapter to feel good. I want you to feel like yourself again.
As always, this isn’t medical advice. Talk to your doctor, do your research, and listen to your body.
And if nothing else, save this email. You might come back to it.
